This piece is a perfect illustration of the printing process, a slow build up of layers of plants and their shadows, using the same skinny piece of inked paper. Each print stage is placed next to the previous to create a graded study in back and white to a pearly grey.

Plants used are alliums, geranium leaf, wild cowparsley, spleenwort, clematis, buttercup and yellow archangel. 

Handprinted onto a thick matt duchess satin and stretched on a wooden frame. The raw edges on the reverse are sealed beneath a ribbon. The plants used are notated on the frame, beside the signature and title.
