A monochrome forest of ferns, reminiscent of a black and white photograph. This is an understated piece and a study for a commission. There are tiny hints in terracotta, plum and olive. A sister to Grey Ferns 2.
Plants used include ferns from Canada, UK, and Covent Garden Flower Market, wild cow parsley, cinquefoil, and spleenwort.
Handprinted onto a thick matt duchess satin and stretched on a wooden frame. The raw edges on the reverse are sealed beneath a ribbon. The plants used are notated on the frame, beside the signature and title.
2010, 32 x 58 x 4.5, with a hanging system in place
